Fashion's Night Out

Updated Monday August 22, 11.04am: The latest news from the warm-up to London's greatest fashion party is Liberty's fashion luau. To help celebrate the launch of her Lulu + Co collection, Lulu Kennedy has invited some of her Fashion East alumni to the Hawaiian-themed evening - which also boasts a rum shack, Rodial consultations and Richard Sloan on the decks. Jonathan Saunders, Richard Nicoll, Simone Rocha, Michael Van der Ham and Bella Freud will all be on hand to talk guests through their collections and limbo the night away with you. As if that wasn't enough, live out your cover girl fantasy and head to the scarf hall where you can be styled and pose for photographers underneath the Vogue masthead.

Staycation

FROM deckchairs to beach balls, the quintessential British beach holiday has always been a stripey affair but, this spring/summer 2011, these classic stripes also provide a fantastic springboard for your seaside wardrobe. From Sonia Rykiel to Marc by Marc Jacobs, this summer's nautical-inspired bikinis were given fresh energy in bright orange or yellow hoops, while cover ups were also given a lift in this bold pattern.

Thin lines of white and blue at MaxMara and Margaret Howell offered a timeless option, while Jonathan Saunders' neon striped skirts supplied a more striking alternative. Many of his pieces cleverly combined their stripes with elegant florals - another print that was making waves at the seaside this season.

Denim-licious in Any Size!

Denim That Looks Great on You… Really

Dungarees. Jeans. Denim. Regardless of what you call it, women every where are still asking the same question: how can I find a decent pair of jeans that actually compliments, flatters and oh yeah, fits?

I don’t know about you but this type of information definitely ranks high on the “must know” barometer.

Fortunately for us, I’ve learned a few tricks of the trade that just might help us find what we’re looking for. Now, let’s get started shall we?

Floral and Rose Motif Rings, Pendants and More

On my last few shopping trips, I noticed a spike in the amount of floral-motif jewelry. Rings, pendants, bracelets, necklaces, earings… you name it! The rose is a beautiful fashion accessory in almost any form. A long-time favorite look of mine has been the rose carved into a stone. Now, I’m evolving into metallic floral motifs, especially if I’m looking to complement my style witih a feminine edge. Check out some of my favorite new looks from Smarter:

Oriental opulence: a blossoming trend

If you’ve started keeping a keen eye out for oriental pieces, then your next craving may be inspiration on how to style them. For as a trend into 2012 it’s all about subtlety, not stepping out of the house looking like you’re headed to a costume party dressed as a Geisha. Enter Elle Sweden with a shoot that’s a pretty good start, incorporating simple flowing silks and fluttering kimonos, styled with the right degree of subtlety, rounded out by fresh orchids as hair accessories and a beauty look that’s softly exotic yet very much played down.
